Thoresby was host to their annual Winterfest on the weekend of 8th & 9th November. This Christmas Arts & Crafts Fair was held in the Gallery and Riding Hall of Thoresby Courtyard and offered a truly relaxing shopping experience. Hundreds of original and stylish hand crafted gifts were on sale direct from the makers including jewellery, glass, pottery, original paintings, prints, textiles, homeware and lots more.
We were also in attendance with our Tourist Information brochures and leaflets, soaking up the Christmas atmosphere that the Winterfest provided. The Riding Hall was buzzing with people meandering around the stalls looking out for that special Christmas gift, after having lunch at the Bay Tree Café, perhaps walking around the park and maybe stopping off at the Roundhouse Garden Centre on site who were also selling Christmas wreaths and table decorations. The Courtyard itself has much on offer including a newly opened farm shop selling local produce and the Wine Cellar selling a varied choice of wine, vodka and whiskey. Not to mention the already well established home ware shop by Barton & Dawes, the Ingrid Pears Hot Glass Studio, J EM Print offering bespoke printing and gifts, amazing jewellery by David Fowkes, the Gallery Shop, exquisite fashion and accessories from Hazel Walker and the Toy Chest full of wonderful children’s toys!
Local people and tourists alike were interested in other forthcoming events that our area has to offer, picking up leaflets to remind them what’s going on up to the end of the year. Some locals had Summer and Short Breaks in mind for next year and picked up a selection of our UK Holiday Brochures. Everyone enjoyed the Christmas atmosphere, a few took up the offer of sausage rolls, mince pies, and freshly baked cakes, and why not!
Thoresby has a lot to offer, I’m sure many will make that return visit. Take a moment to visit http://www.thoresbycourtyard.com where lots of information can be found to whet your appetite.
